City of San Fernando Mayor Vilma Caluag expressed her gratitude to the private sector for supporting the city government’s activities, particularly this year’s celebration of Kaganapan or 24th cityhood anniversary.

During the Kaganapan 2025 press conference on Monday at the Executive Building of Heroes Hall, the mayor lauded the private sector for sharing time and resources to the month-long festivities.

Caluag even admitted that the city government has a limited budget for the traditional, annual observance.

“I would like to thank the private sector for their support to the city government’s projects, programs and activities like Kaganapan, as we have a limited budget for this year’s celebration. They really play an important role in governance and they are always there for us. That is why I like the MSGC (multisectoral governance council) because through it, they are able to contribute to the city government and become aware of what is happening in San Fernando,” she said.

Caluag stressed that despite meager resources, Kaganapan would push through as it is important for the new generation of Fernandinos.

“Since the time of Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, Kaganapan has always been celebrated and observed. Napaka-important niya para sa bagong henerasyon ng Fernandinos na malaman nila ang narating ng siyudad,” she said.

City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan added that Kaganapan is a celebration of San Fernando’s achievements and milestones, with the 24th cityhood anniversary as a banner year for the Caluag administration.

This year’s month-long celebration will be launched with a city-wide clean up day on Tuesday.

The event will be highlighted by the outstanding Fernandino awards on February 4; recognition of city hood and teacher heroes; and various trade fairs among others.
