City of San Fernando mayoral candidate Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab has vowed to address longstanding issues raised by the local business sector, should she be elected in the upcoming May 12 elections.

Pineda-Cayabyab recently held a dialogue with prominent business leaders in the city.

She listened to their concerns about inefficiencies and alleged malpractice within the current city administration.

Pineda Cayabyab claimed that the meeting confirmed the growing dissatisfaction of the business community with the present leadership.

“The problems have been voiced out time and again. What we’ve seen now is confirmation—directly from those affected—that these issues are real and urgent,” Pineda-Cayabyab stated in Filipino.

Among the issues raised by the business sector were red tape, significant delays in processing permits and licenses, and circulating reports of alleged extortion involving business locators, which led to substantial operational losses for local entrepreneurs.

The business leaders also raised serious concerns about the inefficient service of the local water utility, Prime Water Holdings.

They cited service interruptions and poor response times that affected business operations and community well-being.

The traders urged Pineda-Cayabyab to look into alleged irregularities that may be contributing to the declining quality of service.

In response, Pineda-Cayabyab laid out her economic and livelihood platform, which includes revitalizing public markets, extending support to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and implementing the “Business Friendly Fernandino” (BFF) initiative aimed at streamlining business processes and eliminating red tape.

She also underscored the importance of infrastructure development to attract and sustain investments in the city.

“My goal is to foster a governance style that empowers and partners with the business community—not one that hinders its growth,” she added.
