NGCP: No kite-flying near power lines, substations

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has reminded parents and Local Government units (LGUs) not to allow children to fly kites near transmission lines, towers, substations, and other power facilities.

During this summer season, incidents continue to rise, the electric firm stated.

Kites get entangled in power lines or even enter substations, it added.

The NGCP said "these situations can cause line tripping, unscheduled power interruptions, and pose risks to public safety."

The grid corporation also urged LGUs to strengthen the enforcement of anti-kite flying campaigns to prevent disruptions in the flow of electricity and ensure community safety.

NGCP reminded everyone that such activities are strictly prohibited under the Anti-Obstruction of Power Lines Act.

"Once again, for everyone’s safety and to maintain uninterrupted electricity, please cooperate and follow the established laws and regulations," the power firm said.
