A newly constructed Onion Cold Storage Facility, with a capacity of 20,000 bags, was turned over to Bacolor farmers during a ceremony held in Barangay Cabalantian on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

The event was attended by Department of Agriculture (DA) Assistant Secretary for Logistics Daniel Alfonso Atayde, DA Regional Field Office III Executive Director Dr. Eduardo L. Lapuz, Jr., and officials from the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP).

They were joined by Bacolor Mayor Eduardo G. Datu, Vice Mayor Ron Earvin Dungca, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

The Bacolor Onion Farmers Association (BOFA) was selected as the primary beneficiary of the project.

The association is composed of 24 residents cultivating onions and other high-value crops across 60.74 hectares of farmland.

BOFA President Ferdinand R. Pineda represented the farmer-beneficiaries during the program.

The cold storage facility aims to reduce post-harvest losses and improve the income of onion farmers in the region.

The facility is expected to help preserve crop quality, extend shelf life, and stabilize market supply, addressing one of the critical challenges in onion production.
