UP for reelection in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election in October 30 this year is Barangay Poblacion Punong Barangay Elmer “Totong” Sicat Mendiola and his slate.

Kap Totong is banking on the peace and order situation prevailing in his barangay, including being drug-free for his village and the prompt delivery of health and basic services, including delivery of benefits for the senior citizens and the women and youth sectors.

He sits in the Sangguniang Panlungsod as an ex-oficio member, he being the chairman of the Liga ng mga Barangay of Mabalacat City, There, Kap Totong is known to actively participate in the SP’s deliberations.

Other signifying their aspirations to win back their old posts are: former Calumpang Punog Barangay Jaime Jimenez, having served as Kagawad when he lost his former post, Sta. Maria Punong Barangay Gener Lagman while former Camachiles Punong Barangay Jessie Limpoco Duran intimated he is not running this year as he has been designated Special Action Officer by City Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo last July 10, 2023. Of course, seeded to win this year is Barangay Mabiga Punong Barangay Elmer Rivera Calaguas who is banking on his various accomplishments for his barangay and its residents. Other noteworthy candidates are: Rodolfo Bondoc who is running as Punong Barangay for Mawaque and Kit Gonzales as Kagawad in Sapang Biabas who both vowed to serve their respective constituents. I heard that Glen Tiongco, Mayor Cris Garbo’s close ally, is vying for the Punong Barangay post of PB Javier Taruc. Glen has proven his managerial skills under Mayor Garbo which he intends to use when the assumes the village chairmanship. Also worth mentioning is Cora Asa Rivera of Barangay Camachiles where she has rendered genuine public service.

It should be noted that the holding of the BSK election has been deferred previously so the Comelec decided that the term of the present electees should only be for two years instead of the usual three. By 2025, the election for local posts shall be held and the BSK election follows soon after.
