Let me congratulate all those who won in the just concluded local election in the Municipality of Magalang, Mayor, Vice Mayor and eight members of the Municipal Council.
Mayora Malu P. Lacson garnered more than eight thousand votes against her two political opponents Vice Mayor Joseph De Guzman aka Duterte and former Mayor Romy Pecson.
This is the first time in the political history of Magalang that such an overwhelming victory was vested on the sitting head of Magalang.
This phenomenal as the saying goes. However, there was an unexpected outcome in the Vice Mayoral contest where political observers got flabbergusted over the loss of Councilor Norman Lacson to Councilor Eller Pecson. There were talks circulating around that Mr. Norman Lacson can't be defeated in so far as Vice Mayoralty contest is concerned.
But why for heaven's sake this political unexpected disbelief happened. Some people I met and talked to, Masyado daw siyang nagkompyansa.
Well, let us in the meantime leave this brewing political issue to the wise judgment of the Magalenos.
Going back to the results of the May 12 local election the first Lady Mayor of Magalang, Mayora Malu received that unprecedented win over her two political protagonists because her constituents acknowledged and appreciated very much her amazing performance in the field of infrastructure development, sports development, improvement on peace or condition, business has improved a lot and town's economy is on the rise.
Although 2028 local election is still long way to go, allow me to touch on the political scen rios of the opposing groups in Magalang. From what I heard and learned from unconfirmed reports, Councilor Elect Pecson who was elected Vice Mayor will run for Mayor in 2028 and most probably pick Councilor Elect Atty. Koko Gonzales as his running mate.
This possible because Atty. Koko has been an ally of Former Romy Pecson long before he became a lawyer. He ran for councilor as independent all because his brother Nikko who joined One Magalang line-up for councilor and was also elected councilor same thing as his brother, Koko.
What about Mayora Malu's plan in 2028 local elections in Magalang? Of course, she'll surely run for re-election.
That is given, who would be his running mate? Would it be Councilor June Tanglao, who inspite of the none INC support to his candidacy still he came out number one councilor in the last election, or would it be Mayor Malu and Norman Lacson tandem again?
All these are purely speculations.
It's up for the political players on both possing political groups to decide what is best for them in near future.
On the other side of the coin let me say this, my son Angelo ran for Municipal Councilor as Independent candidate, his noble objective was to share his twelve years experience from private sector where his orientation as Abbot Country Manager was centered on servant leadership. It is unfortunate he lost, inspite of his lost he has no regret and he remains thankful to those who voted for him and also those who did not vote for him, and those who sacrificed and joined him in the house to house campaign under the severe heat of the sun.
Meanwhile, let us put aside politics, join hands together and move forward for the sake of the new generations and our beloved town as a w ole. For those who won, may I say this, give all your best to serve for your constituents and not to be served. Again, thank you and may the Almighty Jesus Christ Bless Us All.
