Paging Congressman Dong Gonzales

Big statements coming from Congressman Aurelio ‘Dong’ Gonzales: As some kind of a reply from former Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez of Davao with regards to the controversy on Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s demotion, Gonzales said ‘’we should focus on sustaining or even do better than the World Bank forecast on the Philippines economic outlook’. Let’s ignore any political noise that comes our way and remain focused, he continued. The engineer arrived!

I remember Dong Gonzales, the poor boy from Anao, Mexico when he was still a struggling small time contractor and one those considered minions of then Pampanga Governor Bren Z. Guiao. As a matter of fact he even named his son Brenz, currently a councilor in the city of San Fernando, as a homage to his benefactor. Dong’s rise to prominence is almost unbelievable, even beating his other benefactor Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in congress. ( Don’t you think Congressman Dong should have declined the senior deputy speakership as a matter of delicadeza? ) To recall, he was one of those who largely benefited under GMA’s presidency. Now Gonzales maybe one of the richest congressmen. As a contractor, he was recipient of several government projects.

In the meanwhile, at this juncture, I want to call his attention regarding the sad state of the roads in his congressional district compared to the upgraded roads in the first congressional district under the leadership of Congressman Jonjon Lazatin. (Take notice of the asphalt overlay in all major roads of Angeles City). I want to specifically pinpoint the the stretch from Barangay Telebastagan up to central business district of the City of San Fernando. Paging, paging Dong. Please Congressman Dong do something. (Kawawa na ang mga mororista, mga pasahero na buntis at lalo na ang mga nag-momotorsikulo).

Supposedly amending a charter it should be left ?constitutionalists, lawyers, politicians and scholars. Would you believe and maybe surprise like me that Congressman Dong, an engineer by profession, was one of the two lawmakers who took the initiative of drafting the new charter. Nakabelieve, hindi ba?
