Pangan: Another feather on its cap

MABALACAT CITY attained another achievement in its governance. It has been once again awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance this year.

Already a Hall of Famer for this award, Mabalacat City has been cited for more than eight years now in succession for having complied with the parameters/requirements to receive the Seal of Good Local Governance. These are: Financial administration and sustainability, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance and responsiveness, sustainable education, business friendliness and competitiveness, safety, peace and order, environmental management, tourism, heritage development, culture and art and youth development.

All previous insinuations, therefore, of financial irregularities in the Garbo administration have all been obliterated and Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo feels vindicated of all accusations of financial irregularities due to this award.

Anyway, he now says all the financial transactions at the City Hall are above board and meticulously done and with the efforts of his team: CA Frank Madlangbayan, CPDO Head Rosan S. Paquia, EnP, Legal Officer Atty. Francis A. Dimaliwat, City Accountant Oscar Deang, Jr., Budget Officer Narce P. Paquia and City Treasurer Marlene Molina.

Note on recent typhoons: Mabalacat City, which stands on an elevated area and headed by City Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo, uses its extra resources to help those affected by these typhoons by way of cash assistance and relief goods.

This is our way of expressing our aim for a united brotherhood, says Mayor Cris, though we are much luckier than others in terms of location and financial security.

The Seal of Good Local Governance should be the ultimate aim of local government units since it continues to be a significant platform where both national and local levels work together in bringing about the vision of inclusive growth and development, through tapat at mahusay na pamahalaan.

In sum, every LGU may qualify to receive this Award by being compliant to all its parameters or requirements and continue to adhere to the principles of good governance.

Thanks to Irish Camille Tolentino of CPDO for furnishing me with the handout on the Seal of Good Local Governance and to Rosan S. Paquia, EnP for his encouragement and support.
