Pangan: Bring back the old glory

EVERY politician-candidate in the May 2022 national and local elections has a promise to do better than the previous administration.

This can be evident, first, in the opening salvo of the campaign, varying in intensity and emphasis as the campaign period can allow, climaxing on the eve of the elections where the gapang move is most palpable.

The moneyed ones had a headstart: giving aid in the guise of charity, punctuated by pleas for votes (subtly, that is) and support.

And what about this coming Christmas observance? Need we just stay home instead of meeting friends and relatives in this merrier of all days? Another hard decision to make by the health authorities. Abangan.

Surveys will be aplenty as days get closer to election day. They will intend to be guides to voters on their choices. But can they be taken as gospel truths, their results and forecasts?
