Pangan: Improved competitiveness ranking

IT WAS a quantum leap, claims Rosan S. Paquia, Mabalacat City government's Administrator par excellence, as he described the city's climb to the top pole in the national competitiveness ranking.

On August 16, 2018, the National Competitiveness Council (NCC) recognized Mabalacat City as the most improved component city of the country in rites during the 6th Annual Regional Competitiveness Summit and Awards held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The award body, Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) hails the most improved city and municipality and most competitive provice, including the most competitive highly-urbanized cities, component cities, first to second class municipalities and third to sixth class municipalities.

Mabalacat City is a component city of the province of Pampanga.

CMCI, on the other hand, is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed through the Regional Competitiveness Committee (RCC) assisted by the United States Agency for International Development.

It recognizes the most competitive local government units (LGUs) based on the four pillars of competitiveness such as: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure and resiliency.

Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo said the first place recognition of Mabalacat City as most improved component city in the country is "a testament of the hard work and cooperation of all employees". He adds: We will continue to improve more in delivering social services so we can improve our scorecard.

Philip, of the CPDC, furnished me this Overview and news item, at the instance of Rosan S. Paquia, CPDC and concurrent City Administrator.

Things are looking good for Mabalacat City, during Mayor Garbo's incumbency and he and his team are not stopping at that; instead, they vow to work harder and with more focus to achieve better goals.
