Pangan: More employment opportunities

MORE sectors are organizing job generation events in order to alleviate joblessness and, of course, the accompanying poverty incidents in the country.

One such pronouncement was made by director Mike Macapagal of the Clark Development Corporation who said the most labor intensive companies or investors should be given priority. The more employment, the more priority given to the company, Director Macapagal concluded He is for the inclusive growth among indigenous peoples, especially the Aetas in the Clark subzone.

The Department of Labor and Employment or Dole earlier announced the presence of 100,000 job openings. Meanwhile, Peso Mabalacat City held Local Recruitment Activities or LRAs, the latest of which was last week: at the offive-44; barangay-9 and in schools-4.

The local employment section is headed by Virgie Miranda. Meanwhile, Alma Pontillas led the Career Guidance coaching in 25 public and private schools. All these were under the leadership of the energetic Peso manager Bernard delos Reyes.

Another action to address poverty by pushing for more jobs was initiated by Rep. Mikee Romero, head of the One Patriotic Coalition of Marginalized Nationals who said that freedom from poverty must become the top priority of both government and Filipinos. He added that freedom from poverty has become vital for families to promptly cross the poverty threshold where a family of five can enjoy the basic needs of food, shelter, housing, transportation, health and education.

The present administration should look deeper into measures to alleviate poverty so that the marginalized sectors could run parallel to the economic growth being experienced by our country.

Tough but relevant comments from Leandro Coronel, Manila Bulletin columnist: The administration may have bitten more than it can chew by wanting to accomplish more than it can deliver with its ambitious infrastructure program. By imposing too many taxes just to be able to build, build, build, it appears to be willing to starve the people just to impress. How true, indeed!
