Pangan: Unburnished love

THERE is no formal way to express or manifest to one another, except perhaps through letters or electronic messages. It is after all unrehearsed and spontaneous.

Love can be expressed through words and actions, in varying levels or degrees.

Filial love is common among siblings. Parental love is required for our parents while still alive and well. Fond remembrances follow upon their demise.

Love of country can be demonstrated by being loyal to its laws and respecting the rights of others. Keeping peace in the community is one way to express one's love for his country. Keeping the bayanihan spirit is another way to express love for others.

We find time to set a day for love such as Valentine's and during the holidays, but we seldom appreciate its significance.

Love is not thinking bad about others nor plotting something to destroy or ruin his reputation. Rather, it involves giving until it hurts.

True love means sacrificing for one's country, without regrets.

Our love for God varies in intensity and levels of devotion. It involves not only observing rituals but also charity towards our fellowmen.

We believe in His infinite grace and mercy and, therefore, it is incumbent upon us to show others the same degree of kindness.

In all these manifestations, the world becomes united as one community raised in mutual respect and affection for one another bereft of conflict and chaos with love as the underlying theme of our existence.

Much has been said and written about love and more will be said about it. It comes in different forms and various degrees of intensity.

As we continue to live on, we co-exist with one another, confident of each one's support and encouragement, unmindful of unsavory occurrences and disasters.

We should not think ill of others, rather, we should rejoice at their victories and accomplishments at every turn.

As the Beatles would sing: All the world needs now is love, love, love!
