Sangil: Sing along with the senators

That’s amusing, to say the least. A group of senators and joined later by President Bongbong Marcos singing in chorus with gusto speaks of volume. I can expect a series of comments some maybe favorable and others not palatable. As far as I am concerned I love seeing people enjoying themselves and not hurting anyone. Anyway I love that song, You Lose That Loving Feeling. Led by Senate President Migs Zubiri the singing showed the in-depth intimacy of these people. Feel na feel nila, Lalo na si BBM. That’s one unforgettable moment for birthday boy Sonny Angara. But sorry to say guys, you don’t try that on Asia or America Got Talent shows. Mapapahiya tayo.

There were few senators who were not there. Missing that happy evening were Lito Lapid, Chiz Escudero, Alan Peter Cayetano and Bong Go. I wonder why. Hindi ba sila inimbita or they snubbed the fellowship? I watched several times the video on my Facebook wall and I noticed that Koko Pimentel,Raffy Tulfo and Robin Padilla were more on the background and not belting that much unlike the others. Baka hindi nila alam ang kanta or sintunado ang tatlo?

I can surmise that former Senate President Tito Sotto must be smiling ear to ear while watching the video. Tito Sen is a good singer and a song writer himself. He must be so glad to see his former colleagues enjoying themselves but not former Senator Ping Lacson I presume because he seems to be so serious all the time. Hindi ko pa siya nakitang ngumiti. Sabi siguro naman ni Lapid, kung lundagan yan, wala kayo sa akin. In conclusion, I can safely say, the State of the Nation is sound. And not only purely sound.

Oh, I know the feeling of having fun with friends. I believe it was the known writer Greg Brilliantes who said that ‘it is not the lips, but the memory of lips’. I remember how we in my Monday Club group singing when most are inebriated belting out in chorus the song , That’s What Friends Are For by Dionne Warwick. Parang kailan lang. the late Doctors Tony Guzman and Romy Taruc will lead the singing and the late Manny Alfonso, Pasky Bognot and Romy Calara will shout C H E E RS and every one will down with one gulp the scotch. You should have seen how Engineer Rico Guilas can still manage to walk to the toilet after finishing half of Johnny Walker. Oh! I miss those moments.

Most of my friends in Monday Club and Wednesday Club are in their senior years but still active in their businesses and works. We still find time together because that’s what friends are for, according to Pareng Jess Nicdao and TJ Rodriguez. Very true. The old and far-off unhappiness we forget. What linger in our memories are those when we are together and celebrate life. Last Dolce Vita. Life is too short to expend precious moments to sulking and worrying, according to Martin Vitug and JP Bautista. Hindi pahabaan ng buhay, kung hindi pa sarapan ng buhay, according to Joseph Policarpio and Romy Pecson. I often say, the worst worries are those worries that never come. Anyway you can’t get alive out of life.
