Vicious and alternately pleasant cycles of life

IN A morning tete-tete with Rosan S. Paquia, EnP, head of the Mabalacat City Planning and Development Office, he came up with the suggestion that I write about various cycles of life we encounter.

In an animated mood, he mentioned about failures which come, the solutions we employ to address such setbacks and the move-forward attitude we need to be equipped with in order to overcome any and all hurdles we face.

Ever the pragmatic head of office, he mentioned that positive vibes must be in our systems in the performance of our daily tasks and professional work and at the same time not to let negative signs obliterate the gains we derive from our positive outlook.

I fully agree with Rosan. Each day, we are faced with formidable challenges in our physical and mental stance, our financial status and economic well-being. It comes to a point where the problems seem insurmountable and, at first instance, we are dazed by the enormity of the problems.

We rely on our better judgement to cut down to size in order to solve the problems, piece by painful piece and eventually attain success.

So many books and literature have been written and printed for our use and employ the methods therein presented.

In all, positive thinking or the ability to think over and above the quagmire of problems, takes center stage in our resolve to tackle the problems and quizzes.

Today, we have to grapple daily with truth and reality. Truth, that we can never overcome the scourge of surging prices of almost everything we need. Reality, that we can never alleviate inflation and other economic forces.

All we need to do is to swim with the current of rising prices or else, as any swimmer knows, we will sink or drown in the process.

As we live day-to-day, blessed in different degrees by God Almighty, we grin and bear on what we have and pursue activities our bodies need, no more, no less

Till our appointment with destiny comes, we just coast along, the ravages of rising prices notwithstanding.
