Outgoing City of San Fernando Vice Mayor Benedict Jasper Lagman said he will continue serving the city in his capacity as "Citizen BJ."

Lagman made the remarks after turning over to incoming Vice-Mayor Aurelio Brenz Gonzales the gavel and inventoried documents of the legislative body on Monday.

The outgoing council presiding officer said that he offers himself to the new batch of legislators and to the administration of re-elected Mayor Vilma Caluag.

"Our commitment to service does not end with our mandate as an elected official [after June 30]. As a Fernandino, kailangan iyung pagmamalasakit sa mamamayan ay manatili. Just in case, we can contribute to and help the new administration, then I offer my services," he said.

Lagman clarified that his offer is "beyond politics."

"Personally, iyung mga panahon na nagugugol sa public service maybe helpful in the next years. At kung sakali naman na kailanganin nila tayo sa darating na panahon, I'm open to that," he said.

Lagman, who has been in public service for 23 years, said that he will now catch up with his personal affairs.

"Bumawi naman sa oras for the family. Give business more attention. Pero balanced pa rin with our service to Fernandinos," he said.
