Some P5.1 million worth of ecstasy, declared as animal food, were intercepted in Clark by authorities following an operation conducted by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

In its report, the BOC said 3,004 pieces of ecstasy tablets, commonly known as party drugs, were concealed in four transparent pouches hidden among dog food pellets.

After K-9 inspection and chemical analysis, authorities confirmed the substance as methylenedioxymethamphetamine, a prohibited drug under Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The shipment originated from Paris, France, and bound for Taguig City, authorities said.

A warrant of seizure and detention was immediately issued for violations of Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, in relation to RA 9165.
