The Megaworld Corporation said it is honoring the legacy of the historic Pampanga Sugar Development Company (Pasudeco) by transforming its former site into a modern employment hub.
Megaworld on Tuesday showed media practitioners the newly completed Pasudeco Tower, a four-storey office building within its 35.6-hectare Capital Town Pampanga township.
Built on the exact location of the original Pasudeco sugar central, the tower is now fully leased to business process outsourcing (BPO) firms and other enterprises.
The tenants, which are poised to begin operations this year, are expected to generate around 3,000 jobs for Kapampangans, according to Megaworld.
The tower offers nearly 11,000 square meters of leasable space, complete with five elevators, 24/7 operational capabilities, and backup power.
Harold Geronimo, Megaworld’s Head of Public Relations, said the Pasudeco Tower is more than just a commercial space.
“It also serves a tribute to an institution that once fueled Pampanga’s economy. By building on this site and creating jobs, we are hope to preserve its legacy while helping shape the province’s future,” Geronimo said.
Pasudeco, established in 1918, was the first Filipino-financed sugar central in the region.
It played a major role in Central Luzon’s industrialization and one of the main sources of livelihood of the Kapampangans for several decades.
In recognition of this heritage, Megaworld preserved one of the old Pasudeco plant’s original towers and installed in front of the Pasudeco Tower.
