Police apprehend 94 for illegal gambling

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) on June 29 busted an alleged illegal gambling operation in an event center in San Vicente, Tarlac.

Police said on Tuesday that 94 individuals, including three alleged financiers and operators, 18 administrative staff, 43 head distributors, 19 distributors, and 11 agents were arrested during the operation.

The PNP-ACG said the group were illegally facilitating online and offline raffle draws without sans permits and legal documents.

The police unit added that the arrested persons face charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, the law on illegal gambling, in relation to Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

The Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 3, Police Regional Office 3, Tarlac Police Provincial Office, 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Regional Intelligence Unit 3, Tarlac City Police Station, in coordination with the Provincial Government of Tarlac, Tarlac Provincial Health Unit, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Games and Amusements Board, and the Securities and Exchange Commission in the anti-gambling operation.
