The Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPPO) said that the observance of Maleldo 2025 or Holy Week in the City of San Fernando and the province as a whole was peaceful and orderly.
Colonel Jay Dimaandal, director of the PPPO, said 250 policemen helped in managing a crowd of over 8,000 and ensuring smooth traffic flow in activity sites on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
"All events were successfully carried out in a peaceful and well-managed manner. No major untoward incidents have been reported [as of evening of Good Friday]. Authorities attribute the successful outcome to the comprehensive security preparations, strong community cooperation, and the visible, proactive presence of law enforcement throughout the Holy Week," he said.
"Our priority was to ensure the safety of both participants and spectators, while allowing the faithful to freely express their devotion during this significant religious tradition,” Dimaandal added.
The Philippine National Police's “Oplan Ligtas Sumvac 2025” campaign will continue until after Holy Week to ensure public safety.
Under “Oplan Ligtas Sumvac 2025,” police regional offices were directed to conduct regular inspections and mobile patrols in crowded places like bus terminals, seaports, airports, and other transport hubs.
The PNP also intensifies checkpoint operations with the help of its Highway Patrol Group and force multipliers.
Police Assistance Desks are placed in transport hubs, tourist spots, and major event venues to provide immediate response to the public.
