
A Grade 12 student from the Mabalacat Community High School brought pride to the country and province of Pampanga after winning two silver medals in the 2025 International Lawn Bowls Championships held in Clark Freeport recently.
Angelito Barro II, a hearing-impaired athlete, won silver in the Men’s U25 Singles and U25 Doubles categories during the 16th Asian Lawn Bowls Championships and the 14th U25 Asian Lawn Bowls Championships.
Barro made a courtesy call to Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda at the Capitol on Monday, where he was personally congratulated for his achievement. The vice governor lauded Barro’s perseverance and success, calling him an inspiration to both the youth and the PWD community.
Barro’s feat was made possible with the guidance of his coaches from the Philippine Lawn Bowls Association, Coach Ronalyn Greenlees and Coach Christopher Dagpin.
Barro also won a medal as 2nd Runner-Up in the National Open Four held on December 15 last year.
Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda expressed pride on Barro’s accomplishments, hailing his victory as a source of pride for Kapampangans and those with physical disabilities.
The governor said that anything is possible through determination.
