The Department of Trade and Industry Region 3 (DTI-3) and the Department of Migrant Workers Region 3 (DMW-3) are working together to support repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families who want to start their businesses.

The two agencies have discussed in previous meetings some initiatives such as trade fair participation, franchising, and easier access to capital through programs like Small Business Corporation.

Financial literacy and business mentorship are also available for the OFWs.

DMW-3 personnel have also joined an online session in DTI’s Kapatid Mentor Micro Enterprise (KMME) Program.

They train micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through modules on accounting, financial management, and business planning.

DMW is also implementing the AKSYON Fund aimes to provide legal, medical, financial, and repatriation assistance.

The Entrepreneurial and financial training is expected to equip OFWs with skills needed to pursue business ventures.

The Philippine Statistics Authority said that 15.2 percent of the 2.16 million OFWs recorded in 2023 are from Region 3.

The two agencies are set to hold meetings to align and strengthen their support for returning OFW entrepreneurs.
