CLARK FREEPORT -- As the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games fever goes on high gear, several foreign and local delegates of the biennial meet are impressed with the world-class facility established inside this Freeport.

Wilfredo Hidalgo Jr., coach of the Philippine baseball team, said that seeing facilities that exceeded his expectations make him proud to be a Filipino.

Hidalgo was referring to baseball field inside The Villages where the baseball and softball events are being held during the 30th edition of the SEA Games here.

"I'm very proud na Filipino ako at dito ginanap ang SEA games kasi nakita ng ibang mga bansa na mayroon tayong ganito. Maganda siya at atin 'to," Hidalgo said when asked to comment about the facility.

Likewise, one of the women's softball athletes from Malaysia, Syarifah Aisyah, and her teammates were also impressed on the kind of facility that the Villages has established.

"We arrived one or two days before the tournament and I must say that the field here is very good, well-maintained grass which is soft and easy to make a slide to avoid injury," she said.

She also compared the baseball filed in China and Taiwan, "but the field here (referring to The Villages) is better because it is well-maintained," Aisyah said.

Asked to rate the sports venue from a scale of one to 10, she answered a "perfect 10," which her teammates also agreed in unison. (PR)
