The Land Transportation and Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Task Force Clark, which consists of several law enforcement agencies, has started its crackdown against colorum transport operations and overpriced taxi fares.
This inter-agency task force, which include the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (AVSECOM), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and Clark Development Corporation (CDC), is led by LTFRB Region 3, headed by Richard A. Albano, who also serves as the Task Force Commander.
The task force is composed of LTO Region 3 director Ronnie S. Montejo, CDC Vice President for Security Services Group Lina Sarmiento, and Colonel Gary Reyes of the AVSECOM.
The task force mission:
1. Crackdown on unauthorized (colorum) operations involving vans, taxis, shuttles, and tourist transport services
2. Monitor and address incidents of fare overpricing and passenger abuse
3. Ensure that only franchised and properly regulated public trasport vehicles operate within the Clark Freeport Zone
4. Protect the safety, rights, and welfare of commuters, workers, and tourists in Clark
5. Sustain long-term enforcement operations to promote discipline and order in the transport sector
The group was formed after a series of complaints from the riding public regarding unregulated transport services that overcharge and operate without proper permits at Clark International Airport, the LTFRB stated.
"This operation is not just a crackdown-- its a call for discipline, fairness and accountability in our trasport system. We are here to protect the riding public and ensure the safety of passengers" said Albano.
The task force conducted a surprise inspection of shuttles and taxis operating in Clark Airport on Tuesday.
"Sa mga colorum vans and shuttle service, pumunta kayo sa opisina at tutulungan namin kayo. Madali lang ang kumha ng prangkisa. Sa mga commuters, sumakay kayo sa mga existing at legit na operators natin para sa inyong kaligtasan," Albano said.
The LTFRB urged the public to report colorum activities or incidents of fare abuse. - RGN TF
