Some 772 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers or Tupad program received a total of P4,197,600 in wages.

The beneficiaries from Tarlac City and Paniqui town, were assigned to help in maintaining cleanliness in their communities and public facilities during the 10-day emergency employment program.

The agency said a Tupad beneficiary typically receives a daily wage based on the prevailing minimum wage rate in the region, which is usually between P4,350 to P5,600 for a 10-day period.

The DOLE said it also expanded its assistance by providing skills training on meat processing to 50 individuals.

The training was conducted through the PGT Tarlac Center for Learning and Skills Success, an institution accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Participants learned meat processing techniques, which they can use to produce longganisa, tocino, ham, and siomai.

"By combining wage assistance with skills development, DOLE hopes to strengthen the capacity of disadvantaged workers to overcome economic challenges and achieve self-reliance," the agency said.
