The University of the Assumption (UA), a Catholic academic institution based in San Fernando, Pampanga, has expressed support for the continuation of the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Calling the trial a "constitutional duty", the school urged the Senate to act in the interest of truth, justice, and rule of law.

In a statement issued on June 8, 2025, UA said it "stands in solidarity with other universities and academic institutions" in pushing for the Senate to proceed with the trial.

The House of Representatives’ approved the articles of impeachment in February this year.

“This is not merely a political obligation, but a constitutional duty that must be upheld to ensure transparency, accountability, and the rule of law,” the university said. "Upholding Truth and Justice: A Call for Accountability and Constitutional Integrity."

The university urged national leaders “to rise in this critical moment, act with integrity, serve the public with sincerity, and reaffirm their commitment to the principles enshrined in our Constitution.”

UA emphasized its institutional mission to mold morally upright and socially responsible citizens and leaders.

"In moments of national consequence, we stand firmly on the side of truth, justice, and the common good," the school stated.

UA joined academic institutions, religious leaders, and civil society groups in the call.
