Converge ICT Solutions Chief Executive Officer Dennis Anthony Uy has urged the private sector to help prepare the country for digital transformation.
Speaking before the provincial and regional chambers during the 34th North Luzon Area Business Conference (NLABC) in Balanga City on Friday, June 20, Uy emphasized the need to invest in Information Technology (IT) infrastructure to support digital transformation in the Philippines.
Uy is the chairman of the 2025 Philippine Business Conference and Expo set in Manila this coming October. He was invited as the keynote speaker at the 34th NLABC.
"Technology did not slow down. We need to catch up fast. We need to invest in infrastructure. Digital transformation needs digital infra, skills, and more skills, as well as partnerships with the people ahead of us," Uy pointed out.
Uy said he will use the upcoming 51st Philippine Business Conference and Expo to promote robotics.
The business leader said he will use the event as a catalyst for digital adaptation for national progress in terms of infrastructure, governance framework, and excellence in the digital era.
He said the development of AI and robotics require support and present a huge opportunity for job creation and potential sustainability that impacts economic growth.
"AI is changing the light industries, aerospace, construction, transportation, and aviation. The development of smart applications and automated systems also bring a lot of solutions in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and their operations," Uy said.
He added that Converge has made a huge shift from being a telecommunications company to a full-fledged tech company to help in the transformation.
"Converge is no longer a telco but a full-pledged tech company. Converge is in the best position for the digital transition because of our synergized approach in digital transformation," Uy said
He even cited the completion of the company data centers in Pampanga, Caloocan, and Pasig.
"We made sure that the public sector, SMEs, and consumers have enough storage in the cloud. We have put computing in the cloud," he explained.
Uy added that they are also developing digitally-empowered environment.
"We are building the 200-hectare Converge Pampanga Tech City and the 72-hectare Batangas Tech City," he said.
Uy added that the Pampanga Tech City will put the Philippines in the technology map for having an IT center of excellence.
Batangas hub on the other hand is dedicated for trade and technology, he said.
