The World Bank visited some municipalities in Zambales province to evaluate the progress of the Fisheries and Coastal Resiliency (FishCoRe) Project, which aims to strengthen coastal fisheries and improve the livelihood of fishermen in the area.
The World Bank team, together with representatives from the National Project Management Office (NPMO) and local government units, went to Subic, Botolan, Masinloc, and Sta. Cruz to ensure that the initiatives are effectively contributing to fisheries management and community resilience.
The group met with fisherfolk and local officials to discuss the project’s impact and identify opportunities to strengthen coastal fisheries in the province.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthen fisheries governance and improve the livelihoods of coastal communities.
BFAR leads Fisheries Management Area 6, which plays a key role in aligning the project’s efforts with national fisheries policies and addressing local community's needs.
