MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – A total of 91 families or 268 individuals have been evacuated from their residences as of 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025 due to flooding, the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported.

In a phone interview, PDRRMO assistant head Avenix Arenas said the evacuees are from the towns of Bugallon, Mangatarem, and Calasiao, and Dagupan City, with the highest recorded water level of flooding at Barangay Talibaew in Calasiao town, at five feet.

"The heavy rainfall in the upland eventually goes down to our river systems in the province," she said.

As of 5 a.m., based on the monitoring of the PDRRMO, Marusay River in Calasiao town and Sinucalan River in Sta. Barbara town are at a critical level while Balingcaguing River in Mabini town, Agno/Bañaga River in Bugallon town, Bued/Cayanga River in San Fabian town are above normal level, and Pantal River in Dagupan City is at yellow alert status, which might cause slight flooding in low-lying areas.

Aside from the province's river systems, the overflowing of the Camiling River in the province of Tarlac caused flooding in some villages of Mangatarem town, Arenas said.

"It is adjacent to the rivers in Mangatarem and Urbiztondo, hence some of the villages are affected," she said.

To date, the monsoon has already affected a total of 28,016 families or 88,252 individuals in the province.

PDRRMO's monitoring recorded P12.2 million partial or initial cost of damage to agriculture, P1.4 million to livestock, and P288 million partial or initial damage to infrastructure as of Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Arenas said the province remains under blue alert status, and that the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office has prepared relief packs for the affected families.

Authorities are also verifying an alleged drowning incident in Sta. Barbara town.

Meanwhile, the PDRRMO discouraged fisherfolk from sailing amid high waves at sea even without a gale warning in place.

Classes in all levels both in public and private schools as well as work in government offices, except those in frontline services, are suspended. (PNA)
