Nagsugod na ang Department of Agriculture (DA) niadtong Miyerkules, Pebrero 19, 2025, sa pagpagawas sa mga bugas nga stock sa National Food Authority (NFA) ngadto sa local government units (LGUs), sumala ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr.
Gipangunahan ni Laurel ang ceremonial releasing sa stocks sa bugas sa bodega sa NFA sa Valenzuela ug nitunol sa mga suplay sa bugas ngadto kang San Juan City Mayor Francisco Javier Zamora kinsa nagsilbi usab nga presidente sa Metro Manila Council ug chairman sa Regional Peace and Order Council.
Gipagawas ang buffer rice stocks sa NFA gumikan sa pagdeklara sa food security emergency sa bugas tungod sa talagsaon nga pagtaas sa presyo sa mga lugas nga nagpadayon bisan pa sa pagkunhod sa global market prices ug ang pagpakunhod sa taripa gikan sa 35 porsiyento ngadto sa 15 porsiyento sa Hulyo.
Ang NFA nagplano nga magpagawas og mga 25,000 ka metric tons matag buwan atol sa food security emergency, apan ang gidaghanon mahimong madugangan kon kinahanglan.
Kini nga mga lugas sa bugas gipaabot nga ibaligya sa mga LGUs, government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs), ug Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) sites sa tag P35 matag kilo.
“This is just the beginning. We expect more local government units to participate in this effort, which will benefit not only Filipino consumers but also rice farmers,” matod ni Laurel.
“With the P9 billion allocated by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for NFA’s rice procurement this year, and the remaining funds from last year’s record purchases, we aim to buy even more palay from farmers,” dason niya.

Niadtong 2024, gipataas sa NFA Council ang presyo sa pagpalit sa palay ngadto sa P23 ngadto sa P30 matag kilo alang sa limpiyo ug uga nga bugas ug P17 matag kilo sa basa nga humay.
