Gikompirmar ni Deputy Speaker ug Cebu 5th District Representative Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco nga wala siya mopirma sa manifesto nga nag-endorso sa padayong pagka-speaker ni Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez alang sa ika-20 nga Kongreso.
“Ako nikompirmar nga wala ko mopirma,” matod ni Frasco sa usa ka text message sa SunStar Cebu niadtong Sabado, Hunyo 7, 2025.
Wa na siya mohatag og dugang comment bahin sa iyang desisyon.
Subay niini, gipahibalo ni National Unity Party (NUP) president ug Camarines Sur Rep. L-Ray Villafuerte nga gipalagpot sa partido si Frasco tungod sa pagsupak sa baruganan bahin sa pagka-Speaker ni Romualdez.
Matod ni Villafuerte nga dili sayon ang desisyon sa pagpalagpot kang Frasco, ug nahibung siya sa kalit nga pagdumili ni Frasco pagpirma sa manifesto dihang ang desisyon sa partido sa pagsuporta kang Romualdez nahimo na “hapit usa ka bulan ang milabay.”
Si Villafuerte sa usa ka pamahayag niingon, “The party leadership has decided to expel Duke (Frasco) from the NUP because his unilateral decision not to support Representative Martin’s continued stay as Speaker in the next Congress is a blatant breach of the NUP’s official position of unequivocal support for the Speaker to keep his premier post in the next Congress… Given that this has been the unanimous stance of our party, Duke’s one-man decision to withdraw support from the Speaker runs counter to the NUP’s official manifestation of support for Congressman Martin – and that means his status as a member of our party has become untenable.”
Bisan sa wa pagpirma ni Frasco, si Romualdez gilauman nga magpabilin sa iyang posisyon, human makakuha og suporta gikan sa kapin 240 ka mga magbabalaod, nga milapas sa two-thirds majority threshold sa 315 ka miyembro sa Balay Balaoranan.
Kini nga numero gikompirmar ni House Deputy Speaker ug Quezon 2nd District Representative David “Jay-Jay” Suarez, ug niingon nga ang suporta gikan sa nagkadaiyang dagkong partido politikal, lakip ang Lakas-CMD, National Unity Party (NUP), Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Nacionalista Party (NP), Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), ug ang Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc. (PCFI).
“As of today, 285 House members have expressed support for Speaker [Martin] Romualdez, with 278 lawmakers having already signed formal declarations including four out of six members of the LP who are now part of the larger movement for legislative continuity and national stability,” matod ni Suarez sa usa ka pamahayag.
Matod ni Suarez nga ang lapad nga koalisyon nagpakita sa kalig-on ug kalambuan ubos sa liderato ni Romualdez.
Naobserbahan ni Suarez nga nakuha sa Speaker ang pagsalig sa kasamtangan ug umaabot nga mga miyembro sa Balay Balauranan pinaagi sa prinsipyo ug results-oriented leadership.
“The Speaker is also heeding the President’s call for results-oriented leadership, as demonstrated by the House of Representatives’ swift approval of the majority of priority measures aligned with the Chief Executive’s legislative agenda,” matod niya.
Samtang ang manifesto nakakuha og dakong suporta, ang wa pagpirma sa ubang mga magbabalaod sama ni Frasco nagpakita nga dili tanang miyembro nahiuyon sa supermajority coalition.
Ang ika-20 nga Kongreso gitakda nga magtigum sa Hulyo, ug mahitabo ang pormal nga eleksyon sa Speaker.
“The unity we now see among House members reflects a collective commitment to stability, progress, and responsible governance under his stewardship,” dugang ni Suarez.
