CVFA falls short vs. PFA, finishes 4th in PFF U19 National Championship

CENTRAL Visayas Football (CVFA) fell short yet again and finished fourth place in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Under-19 Boys National Championship after a 2-1 defeat in the hands of Panay FA (PFA) on Aug. 24, 2023, at the Dynamic Herb Sports Stadium in Talisay City, Cebu.

Mark Sheen Estancion scored the opening goal in the 25th minute to give PFA the lead. Kent dela Peña found Estancion in the middle with a well-timed ground ball pass for the opening goal.

Dela Peña scored PFA’s second goal in the 47th minute of regulation. He beat the defender and scored right in front of goalkeeper Eugene Molleno.

CVFA sensed the urgency and aggressively attacked PFA. CVFA finally scored in the 74th minute compliments of a header by Theo Libarnes from a corner kick.

Despite its late effort, CVFA failed to score the equalizer and fell short against PFA.

On the other hand, Stallion Laguna FC won the title after a 1-0 win over National Capital Region FA (NCRFA) in the championship match.

Stallion FC skipper Bacchus Ekberg hit the winning goal after converting a penalty shot in the 80th minute.

NCRFA captain Daniel Christensen made a crucial mistake and took him down inside the box.

Christensen also missed a scoring opportunity in the opening half after his penalty attempt went wide. / EKA
