NAGKALAINLAING imahe sa batang Niño ang naka-display karon sa gipahigayon nga exhibit sa usa ka hotel sa Cebu City isip pag-apil sa selebrasyon sa kapistahan sa Sinulog.
Dunay 12 ka mga imahe ni Señior Santo Niño ang anaa karon sa lobby sa Golden Prince Hotel. Gitawag ang maong exhibit og Bato-Balani sa Gugma (Magnet of Love) nga gibuksan niadtong Biyernes sa gabii, Enero 11.
Gibukas ang exhibit pinaagi sa usa ka gamay nga prosisyon diin ang mga staff sa hotel nagdala og mga nagkalainlaing imahe sa Señior Sto. Niño.
Si Louella Alix, heritage consultant sa Golden Prince Hotel, niingon nga gipahigayon nila ang maong exhibit aron makasinati ug makatan-aw sa mga imahe sa balaang bata.
“We want to instill awareness of the celebration in the guests of the hotel. The guests come from all over the Philippines and there are foreigners too. Not all even makaadto sa Santo Niño sa Basilica. So karon, we have a small procession, a taste of what we do in Cebu.” pasabot ni Alix.

Ingon usab si Alix nga mapasalamaton sila mga tag-iya ug mga exhibitorssa pag-apil ug pagdawat sa ilang imbitasyon.
Si Doxch Tiro, 45, tag-iya sa usa sa mga imahe nga naka-display sa exhibit, 10 ka tuig na siya nanag-iya niini.
“I think almost 10 years na sya but as a devotee, I started even I was still small kay akong mama naa gyud syay devotion to the Santo Niño even before we’re still in Davao. So when we came here in Cebu, 15 years ago, I said to myself nga I want to own a Santo Niño but is carved of an artist that is coming from Cebu. Mao to when I look around, I found the late Zafra because he’s the one who’s making the replica of the Santo Niño.” saysay niya sa Superbalita.
Dugang niya adunay siyay upat ka imahe sa Sto. Nino. Ug tungod sa iyang debosyon pagkabata maong na enganyo siya og pangkolekto sa mga imahe.
“It’s more of my devotion when I was a kid. I want to have it, a personal image of the replica. I have four images. Bag-o pa lang man gyud ko nag-collect gani but long before, the devotion is already there.” sigon ni Tiro.

Si Mark Steven Go, usa sa mga tag-iya sa mga imahe nga gi-display sa maong hotel miingon nagdako siya nga adunay dakong debosyon ang iyang pamilya.
“My mom is a Santo Niño devotee, that started it. Nagmata ko nga mao gyud na among devotion sa family. We always go to the Basilica every Friday before para mohalok and nadala na nako until now, nga moadto. It’s not only during Sinulog or kaning fiesta moadtog o mobisita sa Basilica but every week.” saysay niya.
Dungag niya nga hapit 10 ka tuig na siya nangolekta og mga imahe sa balaang bata.
“About 10 years. Since 2008 naa ko a few. Those are old pieces man gud. I got from a collector nga nag-unload sa iyang mga collections of old Santo Niños.” sigon ni Go.
Matod ni Ellis Mendez, 27, nga aduna siyay lapas sa usa ka dosena nga mga imahe ni Señior Santo Niño.
“I have more than a dozen images so siguro kung iphon lang, mixed media ranging from wood, from grazing. I also have old stamps and prints sa Santo Niño siguro roughly 20-25 images.” saysay niya sa Superbalita Cebu.
Dugang niya nga ang Santo Niño nga nakadisplay sa Golden Prince Hotel bag-ohay lang nahimo ug wala pay tuig nga iyang pagkapanag-iya.
“Actually ang naka-display diri are recent acquisitions. Theywere acquired last year. Last year nako sya nabuo, na-assemble, so bag-o lang gyud sya karon. But I have other Santo Niños which is also on display in other areas. There about 10-15 years with me.”
Misaysay siya nga nagdako siya nga ang iyang mga ginikanan adunay dakong debosyon kang Señior Santo Niño ug kini ang rason ngano dako siya ug paghigugma sa Señor Santo Niño.
“As I was growing up, my parents inculcated the devotion in us. Every birthday, important decisions being made by the family, or just an ordinary day. We go to the Basilica every Friday. During important events, mosimba gyud mi sa Santo Niño, didto sa Basilica so when I was growing up, namulat ako sa devotion. If you are a devotee, it always starts with love, loving the Santo Niño. This love transited into collecting religious artwork,” saysay niya.
Sa bata pa lang, hilig na siya mangkolekta og mga imahe sa balaang bata ug kini nadala niya hangtod karon.
“As a child, I didn’t want toys as birthday present. I wanted images. Ang gihatag nako, my very first religious image was that of a Santo Niño. I don’t know where that image is now. It could have been replaced or it could have been broken because ceramic is fragile,” matod niya.
Sigon niya nga malipayon siya nga adunay mga establisamento nga magpahigayon og mga exhibit sa balaang bata.
“It’s very nice that establishments such as this are going back to where the Sinulog Festival celebrations all started. It always starts with the Santo Niño, ” dungag niya.
