Unom ka mga unibersidad sa Cebu ang mosalmot aron ilugan ang unang korona sa liga nga giorganisar sa Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
Nag-una sa mga team ang Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) champions nga University of San Carlos (USC) Lady Warriors sa women's division ug ang University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters sa men's division.
Lakip sa mga contender pud ang Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats, nga bag-o lang nihakot sa titulo sa Sinulog men’s Open.
Apil sab sa line-up sa kompetisyon ang University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F), University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), ug ang University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons.
“We’re lenient with the player’s eligibility. As long as they are enrolled in school, they can play. So those who no longer have playing years in CESAFI or haven’t played before can participate in this tournament, as long as they are enrolled,” matod ni Ken Silverio Ucang, commissioner sa V-League Visayas.
Pormal nga gilunsad ang torneyo niadtong milabay nga semana sa Quest Hotel, uban mismo ni Ricky Palou, presidente sa Sports Vision Management Group Inc., ang organizer sa kompetisyon.
“Cebu has produced some of the best volleyball players in the country, and we believe it’s time to bring a platform like the V-League to the Visayas.
