Nisaad ang Philippine National Police (PNP) niadtong Miyerkules, Abril 30, 2025, nga mohimog dinalian nga aksiyon aron mahatagan og hustisya ang pagpatay sa beteranong journalist nga si Juan “Johnny” Dayang sa Kalibo, Aklan.
Sa statement, ginkondenar ni PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil ang pagpatay ni Dayang sa gabii sa Martes, Abril 29, 2025, sulod sa iyang balay sa Kalibo, Aklan sa wala pa mailhing mamumuno.
“The PNP joins the nation in grieving the loss of Mr. Dayang -- a respected elder of the press, a stalwart of Philippine journalism, and president emeritus of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (Papi) -- whose decades of service left a lasting impact on the country’s media landscape,” matod ni Marbil.
“Mr. Juan ‘Johnny’ Dayang was not only a respected journalist but a cornerstone of Philippine media. To harm a man of his age and stature, in the safety of his own home, is both an affront to human decency and an attack on the very principles of press freedom he upheld throughout his life. The Philippine National Police will not rest until those responsible are brought to justice,” dugang niya.
Gimanduan ni Marbil ang PNP regional units ug investigative teams lakip na ang PNP Media Vanguards sa pagpahigayon og lawom nga imbestigasyon sa insidente.
Sa usa ka press conference, ang tigpamaba sa PNP nga si Brigadier General Jean Fajardo niingon nga ang mga imbestigador nagkuha na sa mga kuha sa CCTV sa lugar aron masubay ang lihok sa mga suspek sa wala pa ug pagkahuman sa pagpatay.
