Giawhag ni Senate Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III si Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero nga ipatuman ang usa ka mandatory random drug testing sa Senado human sa mga taho sa giingong paggamit og marijuana sa usa ka trabahante sulod sa ilang buhatan.
Nisulat si Sotto ngadto kang Escudero aron magpabilin ang Senado nga usa ka dapit nga limpyo sa ginadili nga drugas.
“Last August 13, 2025, several news articles circulated regarding an alleged use of marijuana within the Senate premises, particularly on the 5th floor,” matod ni Sotto.
“Thus, to maintain a drug-free workplace, I am asking that a mandatory random drug testing be immediately conducted in the Senate in accordance with the pertinent policy order in place. This will ensure that the morale, efficiency, integrity, responsiveness, progressiveness and courtesy shall be observed in the civil service,” dugang ni Sotto.
Ubos sa pagpangulo ni Sotto sa Senado niadtong 2018, gipahigayon ang mandatory random drug testing subay sa Republic Act 9165, o ang Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; Civil Service Commission Resolution 1700653 pinetsahan og Marso 15, 2017, o ang Mandatory Random Drug Test for Public Officials and Employees; ug Senate Policy Order 2018-002 (OSP), o ang Revised Policy on Random Drug Testing in the Senate of the Philippines.
