BISAYAFLIX, the pioneering streaming app for Bisaya-language films and regional content, has expanded its foothold in the country’s creative industry by launching its first workshop series happening from May 25 to 29, 2025, at Lapu-Lapu Cebu International College, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

“This is more than just a workshop. BisayaFlix is an outlet for Bisaya talents. We want to explore and nurture our own,” said Elcid Camacho, chief executive officer of BisayaFlix.

“That’s why we organized this workshop, to discover hidden gems,” he added.

The five-day creative arts workshop is open to individuals 16 years old and above.

“It offers immersive training in singing, acting, dancing, scriptwriting, and directing, each taught by renowned names in the entertainment industry, aimed at nurturing homegrown talent,” Aaron JP Almadro, BisayaFlix chief marketing officer, told SunStar Philippines.

The all-star roster of mentors includes Apple Abarquez, Pinoy Dream Academy alumna, leading the singing module; Direk Rhayan Carlos, film and TV director and Philippines’ only accredited Chubbuck Technique coach; Monica Vercide, Knapsack Director & Partner, heading the dance training; Eric Ramos, Famas and MMFF Best Screenplay awardee (Mamasapano, Rainbow’s Sunset, Two Funerals, Azucena); and Gianfranco Morciano, indie filmmaker and director for GMA and TV5, mentoring in directing.

“We want only the best coaches. And since we are also from the creative industry, who better to invite than our own mentors and colleagues?” said Almadro.

“These are the same people who shaped our journey, and now they can share their knowledge with our local talents,” he added.

Multiple workshop tracks are available, including All-In Experience, Performing Arts Complete, Film Plus (Scriptwriting and Directing), and Singing and Acting combos, with early bird discounts until slots are filled.

“We have a lot more workshops in the future -- this is just the start,” said Akiko Solon, chief finance officer of BisayaFlix. “Plus, we’ll also be having a bazaar of sorts at the venue, featuring local business and producers.” (Ronald O. Reyes/SunStar Philippines)
