THE Department of Education (DepEd) in Eastern Visayas assured the public it is "fully equipped and ready to face the demands of the new school year," beginning June 16, 2025.
“DepEd Region VIII stands firm in its commitment to respond swiftly and efficiently to the needs of our learners, teachers, and parents,” said Dr. Ronelo Al Firmo, assistant regional director, during the Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) Interagency Convergence and press conference at the Leyte National High School in Tacloban City on Tuesday, June 10.
“With the full support of our partner agencies, we are confident that this school year’s opening will be smooth and inclusive,” added Firmo.
During the event, Firmo thanked the education leaders of the 13 schools division offices in the region and other stakeholders "for their untiring support."
In a statement, he also called on the public "to continue their cooperation as the region welcomes another school year with hope, readiness, and resilience."
As part of OBE activities, the regional office activated public assistance help desks in all schools, division offices, and at the regional level.
Jasmin Calzita, regional information officer, said these help desks "are responsible for addressing issues, complaints, queries, and other concerns related to school openings."
Participating government agencies and socio-civic organizations also committed to DepEd for a "safe, organized, and learner-centered" opening of classes.
