THE Department of Education (DepEd) Leyte Division lauded Chrisia Mae Tajarros and Efosa John Paul Aguinaldo for bagging gold medals for the EV Troopers early in the opening games of this year’s Palarong Pambansa on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Tajarros, a Grade 8 Leyte Sports Academy (LSA) student-athlete, made a stunning comeback at the 2025 Palarong Pambansa after last year’s silver finish in the girls’ 3,000-meter run in Cebu City.

“LSA is the brainchild of our good governor, Jericho ‘Icot’ Petilla, created for sports enthusiasts across Leyte Province,” said DepEd Leyte Division Superintendent Mariza Magan, congratulating Tajarros.

Tajarros, 13, is a student of Tanauan National High School.

Aguinaldo, a Grade 11 student of Hindang Stand-Alone Senior High School, also brought pride to the Eastern Visayas region after winning in the long jump competition at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium in Laoag.

Over 14,000 student-athletes across 18 regions in the country will compete in 34 sports at this year’s 65th edition of Palarong Pambansa, with the theme “Nagkakaisang Kapuluan.” (Ronald Reyes/SunStar Philippines)
