10-wheeler truck falls into neighborhood, kills 1 in Samar

A 10-WHEELER truck fell into a neighborhood in Catbalogan City, Samar on Thursday, June 13, and killed one person and critically injured four others.

The vehicular accident happened along the “deadly” diversion road junction in Purok 1, Barangay Maulong, Catbalogan City.

The driver, Romolo Adlaon, 54, of Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City, said the truck's brake failed to function, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

The fatality was identified as Carmelita Esquerdo who was declared dead on arrival at the Samar Provincial Hospital, initial report said.

She was caught in-between the rear tire of the 10-wheeler truck for almost an hour, reported Rene Castino of DyMS-Catbalogan.

The truck was from Cebu bound for Calbayog City.

The driver is now in the custody of Catbalogan Police Station. (SunStar Philippines)
