2 'high-value' suspects yield drugs, guns

POLICE apprehended two "high-value individuals" for alleged illegal drug activities and possession of firearms in separate operations in Tacloban City.

Romulo Aspa Madjos, who has been listed as high-value target, was arrested around 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021, during a buy-bust in Barangay 42-A, Quarry District in Tacloban City.

Purchased from the suspect were three sachets containing substance believed to be shabu.

Also confiscated from Madjos's possession and control were 16 sachets of shabu with an estimated worth of P228,000, marked money, one unit Colt .45 pistol handgun with serial number 516137, ammunition, and other personal items.

Representatives from the barangay and media were present during the markings and inventory of pieces of evidence, police said in the report.

On February 1, joint police and anti-narcotics operatives arrested Rodel Agustin Bolivar, identified as rank 9 HVI-regional level, in Barangay 84, Cogon, San Jose, Tacloban City.

Armed with search warrants, police confiscated 17 small sachets of shabu and one medium sachet containing shabu with total value of P250,000, one unit caliber .38 revolver with two live ammunitions, one unit caliber .22 air gun rifle, three oxygen canister, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
