BRIGADIER General Ronaldo De Jesus, director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Eastern Visayas, has welcomed the 243 new police officers in the region while urging them to adhere to the organization’s ideals of “service, honor and justice.”

“The field of law enforcement is for those with fervent hearts, brave souls and upright principles. As your regional director, I dare you to go the extra mile,” said De Jesus.

“Let us put integrity to the public trust and confidence afforded to us,” he added.

Out of the 596 applicants, only 243 successfully passed the rigorous process.

The new batch of police officers is composed of 215 males and 28 females.

They will undergo the six-month mandatory training of Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at the Regional Training Center-Eastern Visayas in San Jose, Tacloban City.

It will be followed by another six-month Field Training Program.

Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuya, police regional spokesperson, said the recruitment process also adhered to the Covid-19 health guidelines and protocols.

The 243 new police recruits took their oath at the police headquarters in Palo, Leyte on October 30, 2020. (SunStar Philippines)
