A 56-YEAR-OLD fisherman was rescued in Jiabong, Samar after his boat capsized due to Typhoon Ambo (Vongfong) on Thursday, May 14.
Authorities identified the fisherman as Edmundo Jumagdao, married, a resident of Barangay Jia-an, Jiabong.
Initial investigation revealed that Jumagdao was on his way to Jiabong town from Daram, Samar when his motorboat accidentally capsized due to bad weather condition caused by the typhoon around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Jumagdao was able to swim until he reached the vicinity of Barangay 1, Poblacion, Paranas, Samar.
He was rescued by personnel of Paranas Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and was turned over to the municipal police station around 5 p.m. Thursday, May 14. (SunStar Philippines)
