ARMY troopers recovered high-powered firearms during a 15-minute encounter with alleged members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Barangay Layo, Pinabacdao, Samar Monday, February 8, 2021.
Personnel from 46th Infantry Battalion clashed with around 10 rebels during the incident around 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Philippine Army's 801st Brigade.
Seized during the operation were two M16 rifles, nine backpacks, five cellphones, two flashlights, one power bank, one whistle, and subversive documents, it added.
The Army said no casualty was reported on the government side.
Bloodstains were also found in the route of withdrawal from the enemy's side, it added. (SunStar Philippines)
