BRYAN P. Sadoguio, beloved humanitarian worker and trailblazer of Maasin City, Southern Leyte, was laid to rest Sunday, June 25, 2023. He was 44.

Sadoguio, who passed away on June 16 due to a lingering illness, was a familiar personality in Maasin City as he led various feeding and outreach programs for the less fortunate residents in the city through his groups, Maasin Outdoor Organization (MOO) and Food not Bombs-Leyte Chapter.

As a budding musician and sports enthusiast, Sadoguio was also behind different sports development activities, eco-adventure races, band concerts, and clean-up drives in the city.

During the post-Yolanda days, Sadoguio and his organizations led various relief operations in typhoon-devastated areas in Leyte.

He also joined fellow Maasinshons for another round of humanitarian efforts during the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, bringing food and household supplies to poor residents who were trapped during village lockdowns.

"[We] would like to send our condolences to the family and the whole Maasin Outdoor Organization. Bryan was a pillar of the outdoor community in Southern Leyte, a welcoming face every time we’d visit either for racing or for relaxation," said Tacloban City-based adventure racing team, Dirt-AR.

"Bryan was the kind of guy who brings people together and makes sure everyone has a good time, or at least dili ma out of place," wrote lawyer Bendever Gerona, a good friend and fellow relief worker of Sadoguio during the height of pandemic.

Sondra Demeterio, an educator and entrepreneur in the city, remembered Sadoguio as "always supportive, funny, and frank."

"If he promised you something, he would be sure to keep it — no matter how long it takes. Be it helping out with the Covid-19 Bayanihan outreach, with the MOO feedings, or his personal support of the Waroeng [Cottage Library]," Demeterio added.

Sadoguio was survived by his wife and three children. (SunStar Philippines)
