A 31-YEAR-OLD man died due to apparent suicide following his unpaid debts, police said Monday, August 16, 2021.
The victim, single and jobless, was a resident of Sogod in Southern Leyte.
Initial investigation revealed that the father of the victim saw his son hanging with a rope tied around his neck, the other end tied to the wooden trusses of their copra drier or “tapahan,” around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
The victim was rushed to Sogod District Hospital, but the attending physician pronounced him dead on arrival.
Citing a statement from the victim’s father, police said the 31-year-old man had “several loans and debts resulting in his depression.”
