Man nabbed for carrying pistol, causing panic in Leyte

POLICE arrested a 25-year-old man after he allegedly carried an undocumented firearm and caused panic to residents in Alangalang, Leyte on March 4, 2020.

The suspect, Ruel Jordias, single, a resident of Alangalang, was arrested around 11:35 p.m. in Barangay Mudburon.

The Alangalang Municipal Police, led Lieutenant Fidel Triste, said they received a phone call from a concerned citizen informing them that a man, who is armed with a short firearm, is creating trouble in Barangay Mudburon.

Upon the arrival of the responding policemen, Jordias allegedly drew his firearm but he was subdued by a police officer.

Confiscated from Jordias was a caliber .45 pistol loaded with five live ammunition.

Jordias also failed to show pertinent documents to show that he owns the firearm, police said.

The suspect will face charges for alarm and scandal and for violation of Republic Act 10591, or Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition. (SunStar Philippines)
