Man nabbed over improvised blasting devices in Northern Samar

A JOBLESS man was arrested after police recovered 28 pieces of initiating device or time fuse with improvised blasting cap inside his residence in San Antonio, Northern Samar over the weekend.

Police identified the suspect as Jesus “Bangse” Basilan Lauron, of legal age, and a resident of Sitio Pongdul, Barangay Ward III of the said town.

He was arrested around 5:50 pm. Sunday, December 27, by virtue of a warrant dated November 22, 2020, which was issued by judge Armando Rosadiño of Regional Trial Court-Branch 23 in Allen, Northern Samar.

Barangay officials were also present during the inventory of recovered items, police said in the report.

The joint police operatives were from San Antonio Municipal Police Station, led by Lieutenant Norben Carbonera, officer in charge; Northern Samar Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit, led by Major Eddie Esidera; Northern Samar Provincial Explosive Ordnance and Canine Unit (NSPECU), led by Corporal Arvin Catucod; Philippine Coast Guard K9 Field Operating Unit Eastern Visayas in Allen, led by PO3 Bernie Madrid Jr.; and First Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company, 2nd MP led by Lieutenant Sherwin Aldrin Portajada, under the supervision of Major Edwin Uloan Jr., force commander.
