MORE than P1.2 million worth of illegal drugs were seized, and 654 individuals were arrested during the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (Sacleo) across Eastern Visayas from June 19 to 25, 2025.

“What we achieved here reflects how serious our people are in doing their job. By working closely together, we were able to stop crimes and make our communities safer,” said Brigadier General Jay Cumigad, director of Police Regional Office 8 (Eastern Visayas).

“This is proof that your police force in Eastern Visayas won’t slow down when it comes to protecting our people,” he added.

Of the 654 arrested individuals, 116 were wanted persons, including three most wanted persons (MWPs).

A total of 497 violators of special laws such as illegal logging, gambling, fishing, and other offenses were also arrested during the 290 police operations conducted in different parts of the region.

Police recovered 189.38 grams of shabu, 8.14 grams of dried marijuana leaves, and confiscated P20,383 in cash, along with three firearms and 19 vehicles and motorcycles, the police regional command said in a report.

“The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) and the Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) were among the top contributors in the drug operations, seizing 73 grams and 95.56 grams of shabu, respectively,” it said.

The Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO) recorded the highest number of total arrests at 247, mostly covering violations of special laws and local ordinances, it added.

Meanwhile, Cumigad assured the public that “similar operations will continue to be carried out regularly in alignment with its thrust of delivering effective and community-responsive policing.” (Ronald O. Reyes/SunSttar Philippines)
