PAYTACA, the Philippines’ first Bitcoin Cash (BCH) wallet and payment solution based in Tacloban City, has inked a partnership with Apex Super Club, the biggest nightclub in Cebu located at City Times Square, Mandaue City.
“It’s been months since negotiations were in place, and we are thrilled to finally partner with Apex Super Club in Cebu. Not only are they the biggest party place In Cebu, they are also our biggest partner in the region,” Paytaca chief marketing officer Aaron JP Almadro told Sunstar Philippines on Friday, December 20, 2024.
“Soon, they will be accepting BCH wallet as a payment option,” he added.
Paytaca, the Eastern Visayas-based financial technology company, hosted an interactive booth display from December 18 to December 21 at Apex Super Club where party-goers can explore and try the BCH-accepting vending machine, which is the first of its kind in Asia.
According to Almadro, this event “marks a major milestone in Paytaca's ongoing mission to make cryptocurrency accessible and widely used across the Philippines.”
“The interactive display this December gives people the chance to see how easy it is to use Bitcoin Cash, and it’s the perfect setting to introduce more Cebu residents to the benefits of digital currency,” said Paytaca president and chief executive officer Dr. Joemar Taganna.
“This partnership is a significant step in bringing Paytaca's innovative solutions to a wider audience,” Taganna added.
The exhibit at the Apex Super Club provided an opportunity for the public to experience firsthand BCH that can be used for everyday transactions.
As part of the display, attendees can interact with the vending machine and learn about the potential of BCH in simplifying payments.
“With Bitcoin Cash rapidly gaining popularity as a secure, low-cost payment method, this event is an important step in raising awareness and furthering the adoption of cryptocurrency in local businesses,” Almadro said.
Expanding Paytaca’s impact in the Visayas regions
Since its launching in 2018, Paytaca has rapidly grown its presence, transitioning from a fiat wallet app to a robust cryptocurrency solution.
In 2021, the company released its wallet app prototype, overcoming delays due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
By 2022, Paytaca launched Asia's first BCH-accepting vending machine in the Philippines, which paved the way for further innovations in BCH adoption.
Since then, Paytaca has been expanding its merchant network, with notable partners across Tacloban City, Ormoc City, Cebu City, Makati City, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Australia.
As of December 2024, Paytaca has over 122 merchants across the Visayas region accepting Bitcoin Cash.
The recent launch of Paytaca’s operations in Cebu City on July 7, 2024, during the "Bitcoin Cash Revolution" event, introduced the Cebuano community to the app and highlighted the advantages of using Bitcoin Cash as a fast, secure, and low-fee alternative to traditional payment methods, according to the company.
Some of Cebu’s establishments that offer BCH transactions include Forever Young Spa, HCS Puff Pastry and Sweet Goodies, Joaquin Runway Grill, Don Martin, Rx To Go Pharmacy, Sonnyday Market, RBC Gadgets and Accessories Trading, Telephoniq, and the Apex Super Club.
“Paytaca's partnership with Apex Super Club is part of a broader effort to expand its network of Bitcoin Cash-accepting merchants across the Visayas region,” Almadro said. (Ronald O. Reyes/SunStar Philippines)
