LAST Friday’s bunch I gathered were not the regular foodies. But they’re just as adventurous; except that two, don’t eat meat.

Okay.

There was Melissa, Miggy, Marivi, and I. Errrrmmmm… that their names start with letter “M” isn’t intentional. It just happened that way.

Miggy got the calamari, while Melissa got the aglio olio in her continuing search for the aglio olio she once loved so much.

On the carnivore side, I got the osso bucco because I’d want to check if it can approximate the osso bucco I like, while Marivi got the lamb chops. Marivi and I both got the roasted tomato soup. Melissa and Miggy got the Onion soup.

The soup serving is huge; and they’re very good too, both the roasted tomato and onion. Both very filling. I was ready to call it a night after chomping on the complimentary bread rolls and the soup, except that we have ordered more.

First came the calamari. It’s tender not rubbery. One point. Then Melissa grumbled, “They sued starch, they should’ve used the Japanese batter.”

We nibbled on anyway.

Then came the aglio olio, which emitted a very appetizing aroma of toasted garlic. The toasted garlic were in tiny bits spread all over the al dente pasta that’s somewhere in between spaghetti and angel hair.

It was good for an aglio olio, but it can do better with a sprinkling of parmesan, methinks. Melissa didn’t like it and had to pour some osso bucco sauce for it to enjoy her meal.

My osso bucco is something you don’t order when you’re eating alone. It’s saucy, of course, and thus would be very good with rice, and there were around four regular size chunks of beef. Marivi helped me by gobbling one, but there were still two chunks left the time I called it quits. It’s good though, and the bone with the marrow was huge. I can’t promise you that yours will be just as big, the bone with the marrow that is, because you know how it is with bones. All I can say is that, mine was. Yum.

Marivi’s lamb chops were good because they didn’t have the sheep-y taste in the meat. She enjoyed it. I like mine with more mint jelly, but that’s just me.

We topped our dinner with a cup each of strong brewed coffee.

The verdict?

Food is good, but don’t eat there everyday; and if you do eat, order osso bucco to share. Our bill was over P4,000 or an average of P1,000 each. That should give you fair warning. But then, our mission was to taste what we can, and so we did.

We liked their interiors though. Sleek, minimalist, relaxing.
